What are the Updates to Toyota’s Entune App Suite?

Toyota’s Entune App Suite has seen some changes in its supported applications recently. The changes that have been made to the suite are going to roll out onto the smartphone apps and you will see a few different programs that have been removed because the third party support is no longer working with Entune. You are still sure to be set once you find yourself behind the wheel and can take a look below to see if these changes will impact your set up.

What vehicles are impacted by the changes to Entune?

The latest update rolled out on November 13th and it will keep users of the Entune App Suite using the most straightforward version of the app. You are affected by the change if you received an updated Application License Agreement, but if you are not sure whether your vehicle is on that list, check out below to see if you the changes will impact you. Make sure to check specifics within your existing Entune App Suite to see if the rollout is for your vehicle, but the following of Toyota’s models could be a part of the update: 4Runner, Avalon, Camry, Corolla, Highlander, Land Cruiser, Mirai, Prius (including Prius c, Prius v, and Prius plug in/prime), RAV4 and the RAV4 EV, Sequoia, Sienna, Tacoma, Tundra, and Venza. There are a variety of years that are affected by the update, from 2012 to 2019. There is also a reference number associated with your vehicle that will determine if your model is affected, even if it is the correct year and model.

What are the changes to Toyota’s Entune App Suite?

Changes and updates to the Toyota Entune App Suite are due to a change in third party support. On November 13th, support of Pandora, OpenTable, and Facebook Places were discontinued. This impacts both the multimedia display that is in your car and the services that are on your smartphone app. If you have a Harman display unit in your vehicle, the icons for Pandora and Open Table will remain. While the icons will still be there, they will not be useful, as the only thing that will display is an error message. On all of the other displays affected by this change, the icons will no longer be on screen. If you prefer to use the app instead of the multimedia display, these icons will be gone entirely.

All of the other facets of Toyota’s Entune will remain, making sure that you are connected to your car in the most seamless way. Bluetooth phone capability makes sure that you do not have a mess of wires throughout the vehicle just because you want to be connected. Vehicles can be connected entirely, making sure that you have access to all of the system that you are looking for – whether it is a long road trip or just a trip across town. This advanced audio multimedia system is always evolving to stay up to date and give you the best possible experience. With access to applications such as: iHeartRadio, Yelp, Slacker, NPR One, Fuel, Sports, Stocks, Traffic Incidents, Weather and a Wi-Fi Set UP, you are sure to have your needs met with the Entune System. As you see changes, it might not be clear why some apps are removed as the product evolves. This is because the providers for these apps are always changing.

There are advances including the ability to switch back and forth between Apple CarPlay and Entune 3.0. While you cannot use them both at the same time, your vehicle will have both and you can switch back and forth as you please. As always, there is no subscription to any of these services. It will be with you and your vehicle, subscription-free, for the lifetime of your vehicle. Toyota is holding strong to its mission to keep the best practices at your fingertips. You will be pleased with the seamless integration that you see within the system and that it is always up to date.
