On the highway, or off the beaten path, the Toyota FJ Cruiser is on the move in 2014.

Off-Road Options

The 2014 FJ Cruiser’s V6 engine pumps out 260 horsepower and 271 lb.-ft. of torque, due in part to its Dual Independent Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i). This precision timing system delivers a broad torque curve across the rpm range. The FJ’s automatic transmission handles the gearing and lets you focus on terrain, while the FJ’s manual setup comes loaded with a 2-speed transfer case and electronically controlled locking rear differential so you can get the power to the ground. 4-Wheel Drive is a must for any avid off-roader and the 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser is designed with that in mind. With the option of part-time or full-time 4-Wheel Drive, the FJ Cruiser can help you navigate through the toughest terrain. Have the confidence to tackle treacherous landscapes, and the clearance to back it up. FJ’s elevated air intake and protected electrical components can, under certain conditions, defy currents up to 28 inches deep, helping you cross safely to dry land.*

Interior Comfort & Utility

The 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser’s available floating-ball instrument panel puts an outside temperature gauge, compass and inclinometer just a glance away. Whether you’re on a Louisiana highway or off-roading around Baton Rouge, the more your hands are on the wheel, the more control you have. So the 2014 FJ comes with standard steering wheel-mounted audio and Bluetooth®** controls. Louisiana weather can turn bad in an instant, and luckily the Toyota FJ makes switching between modes quick and easy with its cleanly designed shifter. Switching into and out of 4-wheel drive in a hurry is no problem.

Security Anywhere

The 2014 FJ Cruiser comes standard with the Star Safety System™, a suite of six advanced safety features including Active Traction Control (A-TRAC) and Multi-terrain 4-wheel Anti-lock Brake Systems (ABS). This year’s FJ comes with driver and front passenger advanced airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags and front and rear Roll-sensing Side Curtain Airbags (RSCA).*** The FJ Cruiser is also equipped with side-impact door beams designed to absorb vehicle impact and help prevent intrusion into the cabin.

If you have a junior off-roader with you on your excursions, the Toyota FJ Cruiser has got you covered. The 2014 FJ’s Lower Anchor and Tethers for CHildren (LATCH) system includes lower anchors on the outer rear seats and tether anchors on all rear seats. The engineers at Toyota wanted to make sure that your most precious cargo remains safe.

Trail Teams Ultimate Edition

For those that live for the off-road, a race-inspired Toyota Racing Development (TRD) off-road suspension was developed and tuned for the Trail Teams Ultimate Edition. This new suspension includes TRD Bilstein® shocks with increased articulation and stability at high speeds, while the rear shocks are equipped with remote oil reservoirs to decrease damping fade. TRD 16-in. gunmetal beadlock-style wheels with BF Goodrich® all-terrain KO LT tires will definitely make a statement on the trail and, when you combine them with rock rails and a roof rack, you will have everyone following your lead. A newly developed TRD front skid plate, made from one-quarter-inch thick aluminum plate, comes standard on the Trail Teams Ultimate Edition, enhancing approach angle and providing an increased level of underbody protection.

The 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser Trail Teams Ultimate Edition pays tribute to the iconic Land Cruiser FJ40 of the 1960s, where the FJ Cruiser gets its rugged DNA, inspiration and design. A unique white front grille surround and newly developed exterior give a nod to the heritage of this rugged off-road legend. Due to its rarity (only 2500 to be built), a stainless steel Ultimate Edition commemorative dash plaque let’s everyone know that they are sitting in one of the most capable and toughest FJ Cruisers ever!

***All the airbag (AB) systems are Supplemental Restraint Systems. All ABs (if installed) are designed to inflate only under certain conditions and in certain types of severe collisions: frontal and knee ABs typically inflate in frontal collisions; side and side curtain ABs in side collisions; Roll-Sensing Curtain ABs at a severe tilt degree, roll or lateral G-force. In all other accidents, the ABs will not inflate. To decrease the risk of injury from an inflating AB, always wear seatbelts, sit upright in the middle of the seat as far back as possible and do not lean against the door. Do not put objects in front of an AB or around the seatback. Do not use a rearward-facing child seat in any front passenger seat. The force of an inflating AB may cause serious injury or death. See your Owner’s Manual for further information/warnings.
